Karen Beaney’s yoga path started in the early 1990’s and she has been practicing regularly for six years. She is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance and completed her 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training with Kristof and Tiffany of ‘Living in the Self’ www.livingintheself.com in July of 2015.
She lives with her husband and two daughters in Omemee and has been a palliative care volunteer with Hospice Kawartha Lakes since 2013; which is a role that, in conjunction with some significant life events, led her on a journey of self-inquiry and ultimately in making a significant career change. As a result, she is currently a Recreation Therapy student with Canadore College and is looking forward to working with seniors and other adults with physical and cognitive impairments when she graduates in April 2016.
She has training and experience in working with people who have suffered Traumatic Brain Injuries and other serious impairments. In September 2015 she received ‘Trauma Sensitive Yoga Training’ with Brendon Abram http://ptsdrecovery.ca/ptsd-recovery/ . This style of yoga focuses on yoga as an adjunct to formal professional counseling for those suffering from trauma, such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD.)

Karen teaches Hatha and Laya yoga with a focus on encouraging people of all shapes, sizes and abilities to experience the wonderful world of yoga.
Classes being offered in the community; however, private classes are also available.
